nice one, give me hollow knight vibes! I'm not sure if that was design choice but the animation slowdowns feel like framerate issue, bu it's a interesting demo anyway.

Regarding the slowness, this is an issue more related to the GB Studio tool, it tends to pull a lot of the Game boy hardware, I will make some adjustments to try to get it faster soon.

The only design choice is the lag related to the attack, the slowdown is purposeful to give you time to aim when countering a shot from "eyes" enemies, and also because it sounds cool.

I've never played hollow knight, but it's probably good.

Fun game, but I don't know what to do. It just seems like I'm aimlessly walking around levels.

The game is a bit labyrinthine, but your objective is to reach the boss who is always at the bottom right of the map.

Until you get there you can explore and gain skills that guarantee better performance in the fight, after beating it the map will change, and you will have the chance to find more enemies and improvements.

If you manage to defeat the boss four times, you will get the ending.

A tip, never stop killing enemies, you will be rewarded with up to four powers after beating a boss.

I hope you can have more fun now!
