Seed System in GB Studio.

Context (Again)

When I started developing the ‘DF project’ (Obviously), I was feeling quite ambitious. I wanted to try to do mechanics that I had never tried before, and that mainly challenged me to develop them.

My main reference was Rouge legacy, a game that I couldn't stop playing at the time. In this game the player is taken to face a castle, each time the player plays the map changes. These changes could range from rooms to its structure.

Based on this, I came to the conclusion that I would have to create a Seeds system (yes, like Minecraft or Terraria), which would allow both the generation of unique dungeons and their connection between rooms.

Story:

This is complicated, originally I had programmed a mega hefty system in July. But I was busier creating the game than running this system, which meant I just wrote it down in my notebook. Only after finishing SPERAR, did I finally start putting this system into practice.

Of course, at 45 minutes into the 2nd half.

It was already September, and the game's main concept wasn't ready to be shown to GB Compo. I had already started late and had a break in August.

But even if I couldn't show you how the scripts were, I would do everything to at least put it into practice.

Currently I think this problem no longer exists, but I will leave this warning as a precaution.

About Asset:

Leaving the lack of professionalism aside, I recommend this asset to anyone who wanted to do something like this.

Asset is not fully linked to this project, it just uses an easier to understand version of the original scripts.

Even so, I make a point of sharing it as much as possible, I know that very few people read my devlogs, but who knows, maybe one day DF Project will become something relevant.

To be honest, I'm just making it available due to the large lack of games in these styles made in GB Studio. Who knows, maybe someone will see that Asset and make a game like The Binding of Isaac, maybe a Rogue Legacy or something original. I want to see more games like this and I know this kind of thing can help someone.

Creator notes: 

There is another reason for making this Asset available now (And having delayed my hiatus a little), recently "project rya" reached the milestone of more than 100 downloads in total. I know it's not really relevant (especially for a devlog), but I really couldn't pass this up empty. I understand that large numbers like Views or Browser Plays are relative. But maybe quantity of downloads means something.

I'm sure it was someone with a very small hard drive who always has to uninstall it after playing!

Now seriously, this is really surreal to me. Five months ago it was just one project among several others of mine, meaning I never really believed in it. And I'm here doing devlog with a little more confidence. I don't know how important "project rya" will be, I'm going to disappear for over a month this Friday, and I really don't know what I'll be like when I return. In any case, I'm going to keep my hopes up here, and do my best so that I don't abandon this project.
